German-bred stallion Lucas Cranach has been signed for stallion duties at Bullarook Park in Victoria.
Australian Bloodstock struck a deal with studmaster Malcolm Boyd to stand him for a $5,500 (inc gst) service fee . “With the outcross Lucas Cranach offers breeders, if he can throw this explosiveness then he will produce some quality products,” Australian Bloodstock’s Luke Murrell said.
“Malcolm is getting a horse that was extremely well regarded – and rightly so – and with the horse’s looks and versatility will give him a chance to become a genuine success at stud.”
Lucas Cranach (6h Mamool – Lots Of Love by Java Gold) was a G2 winner in Germany before arriving in Australia in 2011. Trained out here by Anthony Freedman, he won the G2 Peter Young Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield and finished third in Dunaden’s G1 Melbourne Cup.
Last year, Australian Bloodstock retired Group 1 winner Master Of Design (Redoute’s Choice) to stand at Swettenham Stud at Nagambie.
