Eagle Park at Orange was one of the worst affected studs in NSW when the E.I. crisis struck in 2007.  Situated in the dreaded purple zone, Eagle Park owners Peter and Jan Ward rode out the rough times and are now looking to the future with two beautifully bred stallions – Byblos (Hussonet) and Barbajuan (Danehill Dancer).

Chilean Group1 winner Byblos covered over 100 mares in his first season last year while Barbajuan was a G3 winner of the Solario Stakes at Sandown in England.  Byblos will stand for $11,000 and Barbajuan’s first-season fee has been set at $6,600.  Both horses are to be paraded at an open day to be conducted at Eagle Park on August 23.

In keeping with the stud’s rising profile, the Wards have appointed Michael Glenn as marketing and nominations manager.

Glenn studied Equine Business Management at Orange University.  He is a very experienced horse industry person and will return home after an absence of ten years.  In the interim he has been involved in bloodstock insurance, sales and marketing with a large equestrian wholesale company and in breeding and showing horses.

Danehill’s Irish bred sire Colossus shuttled from Italy to Eagle Park for a one-off southern season in 2006.  He has enjoyed an excellent year so far with his first crop two and three year-olds in Europe.  Colossus has sired 21 individual winners in the first five months of season including Evasion (3f  Colossus -Snowcap) who has saluted three times in Rome.

Eagle Park has four Australian bred first-crop Colossus yearlings for sale and Michael Glenn can be contacted on for any more information.  There are two colts from NZ bred mares Kerry’s Quest & Mrs Schilling and two fillies from Australian bred mares Marendez and Unknown Quantity.
