Listed Legend by Not A Single Doubt

Southern Legend won a Warwick Farm maiden as recently as February 10 and his rapid ascension to stakes-winning status at Rosehill on Saturday signals a seriously progressive horse.

The Les Bridge trained three year-old claimed the Listed Darby Munro Stakes (1200m) to join the list of 33 stakes winners sired by Arrowfield Stud stallion Not A Single Doubt.  “He’s got a will to win,” jockey Tim Clark said.  “That was a big step up today and he handled it well.”

Bred and sold by Corumbene Stud, Southern Legend is from city winning Carnegie mare Donna’s Appeal who hails from the family of Arrowfield’s Group 1 winning racehorse and sire Charge Forward.

Corumbene owner George Altomonte sold him for $280,000 to Neville Begg at the 2014 Inglis Easter yearling sale and he has retained Donna’s Appeal’s 2yo Treviso (Snitzel) and her yearling filly by Choisir.

Southern Legend is Not A Single Doubt’s 10th stakes winner this season and his 6th since February 1 following G1 winner Extreme Choice, G3 winners Don’t Doubt Mamma & Single Gaze and Listed winners Let It Slip, Selenia and now Southern Legend.

Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice) is Australia’s leading sire of 3YOs by earnings ($2.96 million), winners (39), wins (57), stakes winners (5) & stakes wins (7) this season.
