Kiwi bred Singapore Derby winner Chase Me produced another outstanding performance to lead home a NZ Bloodstock trifecta in the G2 Chairman’s Trophy (1800m) at Kranji on Sunday.
A graduate of NZ Bloodstock’s Winter Sale, Chase Me (Storm Creek) was given another cracking ride from jockey Joao Moreira coming from the second half of the field to win by two lengths from Flying Fulton (Flying Spur) and Waikato (Pins).
Chase Me is emerging as one of Singapore’s most exciting middle distance performers. He has come from a Class 4 to claim the G1 Singapore Derby – G2 Chairman’s Trophy double inside a year.
“I have to say it was a test against the bigger boys and I was pleasantly surprised with the way he beat them,” trainer Desmond Koh said. “He will go for a break now and I will bring him back for the Singapore Triple Crown.”
The Triple Crown consists of the G1 Kranji Mile (1600m) and Raffles Cup (1800m) in October followed by the Singapore Gold Cup (2200m) on November 11.
Chase Me was bred by Peter Jenkins and Neoline Redfern and was purchased from the Twin Pines draft at NZ Bloodstock’s 2008 Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale for just $4,000.
This year’s NZ Bloodstock Winter Mixed Bloodstock Sale will be held at the Karaka sales complex this Friday, August 3.
