Keeneland September Sale catalogue on line

Keeneland has catalogued 4,319 lots for its 2011 September yearling sale.  The 13-day sale will run from September 11 to 24.

“The number of yearlings catalogued this year has been reduced about 11%, primarily with regard to horses offered during the latter days of the sale,” Keeneland director Geoffrey Russell said.  “Breeders have done a very good job of being proactive; the contraction in the size of the foal crop will produce better quality.”

The September sale is an industry convention and attracts the largest group of influential buyers of any sale in the world.  It comprises the very best horses the North American market has to offer.

In 2011, yearlings by 253 different stallions have been catalogued including heavyweights A.P. Indy, Bernardini, Big Brown, Curlin, Distorted Humor, Dynaformer, Elusive Quality, Galileo, Giant’s Causeway, Harlan’s Holiday, Medaglia d’Oro, Mr. Greeley, Smart Strike, Street Cry and Tale of the Cat.

Among the consignments highlighting this year’s sale will be yearlings from the dispersals of the estates of Edward P. Evans and Prince Saud bin Khaled.

The format for the 2011 September sale is as follows:
Book 1:   211 yearlings on Sunday and Monday evenings – September 11 & 12.
Book 2:   935 yearlings on Tuesday – Thursday – September 13-15
Book 3:   Remaining yearlings from September 17 – 24
