Invincible Spirit winners from York to Yosei

Former Chatswood Stud shuttler Invincible Spirit sired another feature winner at York’s Ebor meeting on Thursday and his next Aussie stakes winner is just around the corner with the Stuart Webb trained filly Yosei.

Hooray (2f Invincible Spirit — Hypnotize by Machiavellian) bagged the G2 Lowther Stakes on Thursday for trainer Sir Mark Prescott and her owner-breeders Cheveley Park Stud.  That made it a dozen stakes winners in Europe for Invincible Spirit this year.

Hooray is bred on the same Machiavellian cross as classy sprinter Conquest who won the time-honoured Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood and a G3 at Ascot before relocating to Dubai last year.  The Cheveley Park filly is a half-sister to the Listed winner Hypnotic (Lomitas) and their dam Hynotize has a yearling filly and weanling colt by Pivotal.

Hooray won her maiden at Kempton and was third in G3 Cherry Hinton at Newmarket before breaking the ice at the Ebor meeting.  She is the latest high-class performer to don the Cheveley Park Stud silks descending from Belle Et Deluree (The Minstrel).  She produced the G1 winning 2YO Dazzle and Listed winners Fantasize and Hynotize.

Invincible Spirit filly Yosei was due to resume in the Hollylodge Thoroughbred Stakes at Moonee Valley on Saturday but Webb has elected to wait another week before bringing her back.

“She missed a couple of hard gallops because of the wet weather,” Webb revealed on Thursday.  “She raced at 438 kilos last campaign and now she is 12kg heavier.  She is stronger after a winter break and is definitely physically better.”

Yosei will be set for the G1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield in October.  She kept improving race by race during her last preparation winning a Benalla Maiden before going on to claim the G1 AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Randwick.
