International updates for Inglis Easter Sale

International buyers of Inglis yearlings celebrated a successful Easter weekend with Group 3 winners in South Africa and Singapore.

Arcetri Pink (2f Rock Of Gibraltar – Arcetri by Galileo) gave every indication she has a very bright future after a dominant two length victory in the G3 Pretty Polly Stakes (1100m) at Turffontein on Saturday.  Millford Thoroughbreds sold her for $45,000 at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

Her dam Arcetri is a half-sister to Sydney stakes winners Camena (f by Snippets) and Jai’s Jump (Rory’s Jester).  Another half-sister Dahleah (Flying Spur) has a Charge Forward colt catalogued as Lot 536 at the upcoming  Inglis Easter yearling sale.  He’s part of the Bylong Park draft.

Arcetri has a yearling filly by Bel Esprit and a weanling colt by Statue of Liberty.

Arcetri Pink is the 80th stakes-winner worldwide for Rock of Gibraltar, who is now based permanently in Ireland after many years of shuttling to Australia.

Singapore’s G3 Three-Year-Old Sprint was a good result for Fairview Park and Twin Palms as well as the connections of Stepitup.

Stepitup (3g Hussonet – Ain’t Seen Nothin’ by Nothin’ Leica Dane) overcame a chequered passage in the straight at Kranji to claim the first leg of Singapore’s 3YO Challenge on Sunday.  “He showed above average ability from Day 1,” trainer Sonny Yeoh said.  “But it’s only two or three wins back that I started to think about targeting the 3YO Series.

“I used to think his small size was a handicap, but that’s the way he is.  Small but with a big engine.”  Yeoh said he will be even better suited over longer distances in the final two legs – G2 3YO Classic (1400m) on April 21 and G1 Singapore Guineas (1600m) on May 17.

Stepitup was a $90,000 buy for the Tivic Stable from Bellerive Stud at the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale.  His dam Ain’t Seen Nothin’ was a stakes winner at Flemington and her half-sister Choisie has a Fastnet Rock filly (Lot 53) entered on account of Fairview Park at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

Stepitup’s female family also includes 2003 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success.  Twin Palms sells her More Than Ready colt (Lot 262) at Easter.
