Inspired Winter Sale at Karaka

Zabeel mare Be Inspired topped the NZ Bloodstock Winter Sale at Karaka on Friday when she was knocked down for $100,000.

Jamieson Park owner Sam Munro purchased her out of the Curraghmore Stud draft.  Be Inspired is a sister to G3 winner Rainbow Styling and half-sister to G3 winner Zingaling (Redoute’s Choice).

Be Inspired’s Duporth colt topped Day 1 of the Weanling session at this year’s NZB National Sale when purchased by Lyndhurst Farm for $105,000.  “Her foal caught my attention and was part of the reason why we bought the mare,” Munro said.  “She is by Zabeel and has thrown good types.  We also liked her covering sire Showcasing and we plan to send her to a proven sire, possibly O’Reilly.”

Blue-blooded mare Shutout was next best on the leader-board after being purchased by Michael Otto Bloodstock from Curraghmore Stud for $75,000.   She is a daughter of Redoute’s Choice from the G2 Winter Stakes winner La Sizeranne (Stravinsky).

Gordon Cunningham’s Curraghmore Stud ended the day as the leading vendor by aggregate, selling three horses for $175,500 and was also the leading vendor by average at $58,500.

Overall turnover for the one-day sale was $438,800 at an average of $6,269.  The clearance rate improved 28 points to 83% compared to last year.

NZ Bloodstock will conduct its next auction on Friday, August 10 when the South Island 2YO Mixed Bloodstock Sale gets underway at the Canterbury Agricultural Park.
