Imoto too classy at Caulfield

Bianconi mare Imoto has improved her residual value with a convincing three-length victory in the Charlie Agius Hcp (1600m) at Caulfield.

The Mick Price trained mare had been placed at both her previous runs following a nine-month spell and she went out a $2.80 favourite on Saturday.  Price part-owns her with breeder Pip Cooper.

Cooper owns her dam Fuji Fairy and the mare’s best foal to date has been Group 1 winning filly Yosei (AJC Sires’ Produce Stakes, MRC Thousand Guineas, Qld Tatt’s Tiara Stakes).

Imoto (4m Bianconi – Fuji Fairy by Fuji Kiseki) won the $100,000 Rivette Final at Flemington in July last year and Price would like to try her over further than 1600 metres this prep.  “She was strong to the line today,” he said.  “Yosei has already made her pedigree page and it would be nice if she could get some black type of her own.”

Bianconi (Danzig) will stand for a $7,700 (inc gst) service fee at Swettenham Stud this year.
