Illustrious Blue retires to Ridgeview Park

Former Hollylodge Stud owner Chris Nevill has expanded her stallion management business with the arrival of Illustrious Blue in Victoria.  The British bred stallion will stand at Ridgeview Park in Bendigo.

Ridgeview Park relocated from NSW to the old Sanctuary Lodge site this year.

Illustrious Blue (Dansili – Gipsy Moth by Efisio) won 10 races in England and was a Goodwood specialist claiming 7 of those victories at the Sussex course highlighted by the G2 Goodwood Cup and the G3 Glorious Stakes.

He was trained by William Knight at Angmering Park in West Sussex after selling for 40,000gns at the 2005 Tattersalls October Sale.

Illustrious Blue also won the G3 Sagaro Stakes at Ascot and Derrinstown Stud Trophy on a trip to Dubai.  All up, he earned the equivalent of AUD 630,782 for owners Ian and Pam Bendelow.

His sire Dansili is one of Europe’s top Danehill stallions and stands for a 65,000 pounds fee at Juddmonte Farms.  He has sired 68 stakes winners topped by Arc de Triomphe heroes Rail Link and Harbinger.

Illustrious Blue (GB) is a half-brother to Pontefract Listed winner Mullein (Oasis Dream) and their dam Gipsy Moth was a stakes winner in Germany.

Ridgeview Park will stand Illustrious Blue for a $6,600 (inc gst) service fee and Nevill can be contacted for bookings on 0408 132 755.

Nevill has also transferred former Hollylodge resident Zupaone (Flying Spur) to Rangal Park in Euroa.
