Patinack Farm freshman Husson (Arg) continued his flying start at stud with Hyperventilate’s victory at Ballarat on Thursday.
Hyperventilate (2f Husson – Venticello by Chimes Square) defeated Patinack homebred La Casino (Casino Prince) in a hair-raising finish to the Mothers Day Lunch At BTC Maiden (1000m). The runner-up was later demoted to third after causing interference to even-money favourite Diagnose (More Than Ready).
Husson (Hussonet) has now sired 9 individual winners to establish a big lead in the first-season winners’ title. And with progeny earnings of $323,000, he is just behind stablemate Casino Prince ($420,600) on the prizemoney premiership.
Hyperventilate was racing second-up after an unplaced run in at Morphettville a month ago. She struck interference at the start that day and came from well back to finish sixth to Sabie in the LR Pewsey Vale Stakes.
She is prepared by Robert Smerdon for a partnership that includes Melbourne businessmen Tony and Joe Bongiorno. He also trains stakes winning mares Lone Rock (Fastnet Rock) and Persian Star (Shot of Thunder) for the brothers under the Aquanita Racing banner.
Booralie Stud will offer a sister to Hyperventilate as Lot 548 at the Inglis Easter yearling sale on Thursday, April 12. Their three-quarter sister Fist Of Fury won two races for John O’Shea and she was also runner-up to Northern Meteor in the G1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington in 2008.
