Husson hit for six at Kilmore

Husson (Arg) extended his lead at the top of the Australian first-season winners’ premiership at Kilmore on Tuesday.

Maury (2g Husson – Zelle by Strategic) was always travelling sweetly for an on-pace victory in the Schweppes Maiden Plate (1107m). He skipped away in the straight to score by two lengths from Cavalente (Lion Heart) and Purrbo Charged (Purrealist).

Husson (Arg) has now sired six individual winners to lead from Purrealist, Court Command and his Patinack Farm associate Casino Prince who are all on four winners. He has three year-olds in South America but is deemed a first-season sire in Australia after Patinack owner Nathan Tinkler brought him out here in April 2008.

He is a son of international sire influence Hussonet and was Argentina’s Champion 2YO Colt in 2006 & Champion Miler in 2007.

Husson was straight out of the blocks when Hussousa won the LR Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick in October. She warmed up for the G1 Golden Slipper with a two length second to Samaready in the G2 Riesling Slipper Stakes last Saturday.

If a freshman sires the $3.50 million Golden Slipper winner on April 7, it’s likely to be a Patinack resident. Casino Prince colt All Too Hard is on the second line of betting at $6.50 behind Samaready ($2.50) while Hussousa is quoted at $17 to turn the tables on the favourite.

Maury isn’t in that league but he does descend from a Woodlands family going back to Shaybisc (Biscay) who was Australia’s Champion 2YO & 3YO Filly for the seasons ending 1980 and ’81.
