Hussler back on track

Hussonet’s Australian Horse of the Year Weekend Hussler is in pre-training ahead of a return to racing during the spring carnival.  Trainer Ross McDonald has been taking the gelding to Mornington for pace work before stepping him up to make time on the track.

A seven-time Group 1 winner, Weekend Hussler hasn’t been seen since an unplaced run behind Starspangledbanner in the Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at Caulfield in February.

Arrowfield stallion Hussonet sired 102 winners in 2009-10 and seven of them scored at black-type level.  His best performer last season was G1 NZ Railway Stakes winner Gold Trail.  His three year-olds Latin News and Girl Hussler won at Listed level as did five-year-old Ego’s Dare.

Run For Levi (3c Hussonet – Madam Bligh by Nine Carat) was his leading juvenile winning the Listed Doomben Slipper in May for Patinack Farm.

Gerry Harvey has a promising Hussonet named Slow The Flow.  She was an impressive winner in class-record time at Randwick last Saturday.
Hussonet is available for foal shares only to approved mares at Arrowfield this year.
