Hot start for Haradasun

Coolmore Stud’s freshman Haradasun sired his first winner when well-bred filly Hot Fever romped to a near three-length victory on debut at Ballarat on Thursday.

Hot Fever (2f Haradasun – Campbell Fever by Bluebird) was travelling like a winner a long way from home in the Horse & Horsepower 2YO Maiden (1100m).  Angled into clear running room in the straight, she cruised up to the leaders and then produced an impressive turn of speed to win going away.

The Kevin Newby trained filly was purchased by BC3 Thoroughbreds for $145,000 at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  She hails from a quality family that includes Rock Classic and Astrodame.

Haradasun won his only start at two by 10 lengths before progressing to becoming Australia’s Champion 3YO in 2007 after winning the G1 Doncaster Handicap and G1 George Ryder Stakes at weight for age.  He confirmed that brilliance on the international stage with an unprecedented win in the G1 Queen Anne Stakes over a mile at Royal Ascot.

His first crop are two-year-olds of the 2011-12 season and he is the sire of a number of gallopers of distinct promise including the likes of the Chris Waller trained Hoffenhorry and the Anthony Freedman trained Dawn Prospect.
