Host filly Stars for Stanley

House Of Stars is the next stakes winner on the horizon for Swettenham Stud stallion Host.

Trainer Brent Stanley will set the talented filly for a black-type campaign in Tasmania after her gutsy victory in the Adam Dower Memorial (2050m) at Mornington on Monday.

House Of Stars (3f Host – Cosmic Dust by Hurricane Sky) has won three of her last four starts in a busy month since breaking through in a Benalla maiden on December 27.  “She keeps backing up and is tough as nails,” Stanley said.  “She thrives on racing and licks the bin clean every night.”

The filly’s main mission next month is the LR Tasmanian Oaks (2100m).  Stanley will send her across Bass Strait for a final lead-up in the LR Strutt Stakes (2100m) on February 9.

Apprentice Katelyn Mallyon earned her riding fee on the winner on Monday.  “She travelled strongly but the leader took off early and we had to chase a long way from home.  It was a tough win – she’s all heart.”

House Of Stars is a Contract Racing homebred and is a younger half-sister to Pillar Of Creation (God’s Own) who won for the fourth time at Caulfield on January 4.  Their dam Cosmic Dust is a sister to Melbourne stakes winner Slipstream.

Stanley is building a strong team at Kyneton and he’s also trained Override (Commands) and River Cruise (Good Journey) to win for Contract Racing owners David and Jenny Moodie this month.

He rode Arctic Scent to a Group 1 victory for Contract Racing in the 1996 Caulfield Cup.

Host (Chi) is a Top 10 sire on the Australian third-season premiership with the winners of 36 races and $755,450 in prizemoney so far this season.

Host has a brother to Philippi catalogued as Lot 567 at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale in March.  A Group 2 winner in Sydney and Melbourne, he was sold to Hong Kong and now races under the name Vanilla.

Trainer Caspar Fownes has entered Vanilla for the Chinese New Year Cup (1400m) at Sha Tin on Sunday.
