Hidden Dragon colt tops Day 2 at Magic Millions HIT Sale

Singapore trainer Don Baertschiger made his presence felt at the Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale at the Gold Coast on Thursday when he paid $110,000 to secure a colt by exciting Lyndhurst Stud sire Hidden Dragon.

The colt is a half brother to Group winner Don’t Tell Clang and he impressed when breezing 10.73 seconds at the Gold Coast on Monday.  “He’s a really nice colt,” Baertschiger reported. “He impressed me in his breeze up.  He has a lovely action and should really be suited to racing in Singapore.”

The session topper was part of the strong Centaur Park draft that provided five of the top eight priced horses during the second and final session of the Hit Sale.  Baertschiger also bought colts by Dane Shadow colt and Al Samer for $80,000.

Sydney based trainer David Payne picked up a pair of top prospects by Lucky Owners for $90,000 and $85,000 respectively.

Also in the action was Whobegotyou’s owner Laurence Eales who went to $85,000 to secure the sole lot in the sale by his star’s sire Street Cry.  The filly was offered by Epsom Lodge and attracted strong interest from locals and overseas clients.

Thursday’s trad topped $2.77 million for 131 lots at an average of $21,153.  The clearance rate of 74% will grow over the coming days as more deals are struck.

Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said the momentum from Wednesday night’s first session continued on Thursday.  “I’m rapt with the final figures for both sessions,” Chester said.  “We worked hard in attracting a big buying bench to the Gold Coast and we were rewarded with really positive results.  We had horses sold to most states of Australia as well as Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Iran.”
