Henrythenavigator filly finds winning route in Ireland

Ballydoyle filly Infanta Branca banked the first winning cheque for Coolmore sire Henrythenavigator at the Curragh on Sunday.

Infanta Branca (2f Henrythenavigator-Totemic by Vanlandingham) had been runner-up on debut at Cork earlier this month.  “She’s very fast and exciting,” trainer Aidan O’Brien said.  “She will go for the Listed Marble Hill Stakes next and looks a real Queen Mary type of filly.”

The Coolmore filly won in good style from the Jim Bolger-trained Leitir Mor (Holy Roman Emperor).  She is out of Group winning mare Totemic and is a half sister to three stakes winners including Lil’s Lad and Cherokee.

Henrythenavigator (Kingmambo) was a high-class two-year-old winning the G2 Coventry Stakes and developed into a Group 1 miler the following year pulling off the English and Irish 2000 Guineas double before recording victories in the St James’s Palace and Sussex Stakes.

Henrythenavigator (USA) stands at Ashford Stud in Kentucky for a $25,000 fee and has shuttled to Coolmore Australia for the last three years.
