Helmet retires to Northwood Park

Last year’s G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Helmet has been retired to Darley’s Northwood Park in Victoria.

Helmet (3c Exceed And Excel – Accessories by Singspiel) ran up a sequence of four straight wins at two culminating with G1 victories in the Sires’ Produce Stakes and the Champagne Stakes at Randwick.  He finished the season with a Timeform 2YO rating of 123 which was second best to his stablemate Sepoy.

He returned at three for a convincing victory in the Caulfield Guineas which has been won by current champion sires Redoute’s Choice and Lonhro.  His Timeform 3YO rating of 127 put him ahead of Fastnet Rock, Starspangledbanner, So You Think and Choisir at the same age.

Bred by Sheikh Mohammed, Helmet is a son of sensational sire and fellow Darley stallion Exceed And Excel – the world’s most prolific sire of two-year-olds.  His dam Accessories (Singspiel) has also foaled G3 winner Bullbars.

Helmet will stand for a $33,000 (inc gst) service fee.
