Heart attack claims Colorspin

Champion English broodmare Colorspin (High Top) has succumbed to a heart attack at Meon Valley Stud.  She was 29.

A Group 1 winner of the 1986 Irish Oaks, she had been pensioned after delivering Justification (Montjeu) in 2008.  Among her 7 winning foals were the G1 winners Opera House (Sadler’s Wells), Kayf Tara (Sadler’s Wells) and Zee Zee Top (Zafonic).

“She had a good retirement,” Meon Valley’s Mark Weinfeld said.  “She leaves an outstanding legacy and we have lots more to look forward to with Zee Zee Top and her daughter Izzi Top.

“Her son Kayf Tara has established himself as a leading National Hunt sire and Opera House has also been a success at stud.  She will be sorely missed.”
