Australian Derby winner Don Eduardo (NZ) has been pensioned from stud duties at Haunui Farm. The 14 year-old stallion will return to his owner Eduardo Cojuangco at Gooree Park in NSW.
“It was decided to retire Don Eduardo and Mr Cojuangco is more than happy for him to return to Gooree Park,” Haunui Farm’s Mark Chitty said. “Don Eduardo left some very good horses and proved his versatility leaving Group 1 performing sprinters and stayers.”
Still New Zealand’s highest priced yearling at $3.60 million, Don Eduardo retired to stud in 2003and stood his first two seasons at Fayette Park Stud before relocating to Haunui Farm in 2005. Among his 16 stakes performers are Booming, Divine Rebel, Older Than Time and Swift Alliance.
Swift Alliance was a stakes winner at Randwick (2), Rosehill (3) and Flemington. He is based with studmaster Brent Davenport at Akaroa Thoroughbreds in Grafton by arrangement with Gooree Park.
