Handy Magic Millions updates for Raheen Stud

Raheen Stud’s updates for the Magic Millions March yearling sale continued in full swing at Doomben on Saturday when Kiss Me Deadly was successful in the Gap Handyman Hcp (1600m).

It was the 15th winning addition for the leading Darling Downs nursery since the catalogue was printed.

Kiss Me Deadly was part of Raheen’s draft at the 2009 Magic Millions and he has won 6 races while turning a $40,000 price-tag into earnings of $168,000.

His Captain Sonador half-sister has been catalogued as Lot 327 at this year’s Gold Coast Sale starting next Monday, March 17.  “It’s been a terrific run in the last month,” Raheen’s Basil Nolan jnr said.  “They’ve been winning all over the country.”

Group 1 Epsom Hcp winner Captain Sonador was based at Raheen for three seasons before his premature death last month.  Among his other first-crop yearlings at the March Magic Millions are the half-sister to Rocket To Glory (Lot 256) and the half-brother to Lullaby Lady (Lot 365).

Rocket To Glory won at Eagle Farm on March 1 boosting his record to 10 wins in 34 starts for over $570,000 in prizemoney.  Lullaby Lady completed a winning hat-trick at Doomben on February 26.

“Both yearlings are lovely, athletic types,” Nolan said.  “We were devastated to lose Captain Sonador so early – he was very popular with breeders and averaged over 100 mares a season.”

Raheen has also entered a Red Element half-sister to Sino Eagle as Lot 138 at the March Magic Millions.  The rising Victorian star won at Moonee Valley and Flemington earlier before finishing a creditable third in the G3 Frances Tressady Stakes back at Flemington on March 1.

Sino Eagle can add another update to her half-sister’s pedigree page this weekend.  Peter Moody has nominated the mare for the $112,000 Catanach’s Gold Bracelet at Bendigo’s stand-alone meeting on Saturday.

Raheen stallion Publishing provides another highlight with his sister to Ruby Soho (Lot 26).  The Liam Birchley trained filly book-ended an Ipswich maiden victory with placings in the LR Calaway Gal Stakes at Doomben and Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast.

Ruby Soho’s female connections collected an extra $100,000 on top of her Classic prizemoney as part of the Magic Millions Racing Women Bonus incentive.

Raheen has 31 yearlings going under the hammer at the Magic Millions March Sale and they are available for inspection at Stable C on the Gold Coast sale grounds.
