Glenlogan Park sire Show A Heart added two Group 3 winners to his black-type record in NZ and Perth on Saturday.
I’m Your Venus is bred on the successful Show A Heart – Rory’s Jester cross and she charged to the front and then defied all others in the Easter Cup (1600m) at Riccarton.
A few hours later in Western Australia, Show A Heart’s outstanding colt Luke’s Luck completed the G2 Karrakatta Plate – G3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes double with a barnstorming finish at Ascot.
The Trevor Andrews trained youngster settled near the tail of the field after drawing poorly but he was able to come off a leisurely pace to win by a nose from runner-up Keeper Quiet (Scandal Keeper) with Fuddle Dee Duddle (Red Ransom) another length away third.
“What a terrific win that was,” Andrews beamed post race. “It was really not run to suit at all but he is simply the best two year-old in Western Australia. He’s only going to get better with maturity and we will bring him back for the WA Guineas next season.
“He is a magnificent animal and has a great pedigree. I guess he’s already done enough to get some really good mares once he has finished racing and goes to stud. It is a great thrill to be associated with him and it is even more special because he is owned by Craig Thompson who has put so much into racing.”
Earlier in the day, Thompson’s classy filly Hallowell Belle was beaten two long heads when third in the G1 T J Smith Stakes at Randwick.
Show A Heart is in the Australian Top 10 on the 2YO sires’ premiership with 6 winners of $712,700. The Kelly Schweida trained filly Discreet is his other black-type winner. She scored at Listed level in the Calaway Gal Stakes at Eagle Farm in December.
