Glorious start for Juddmonte

Juddmonte homebred Noble Mission set the stage for his older brother Frankel with a G3 victory in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood on Tuesday.

Noble Mission (3c Galileo – Kind by Danehill) had won at Newbury and Newmarket and also earned black-type with placings in the G2 King Edward VII Stakes and LR Fairway Stakes prior to the Glorious Goodwood victory over 2400m.

Next on the agenda is the G1 English St Leger in September when his rivals will include unbeaten Montjeu colt Camelot.  “He had to dig deep,” jockey Tom Queally said on Tuesday.  “He’s improving and is going places.”

Noble Mission is the third Group winner from Danehill mare Kind.  The first was G3 Derby Trial winner Bullet Train (Sadler’s Wells) and he was followed by wonder colt Frankel (Galileo).  The mare has since foaled two fillies by Oasis Dream.

Frankel will attempt to keep his unbeaten record intact with back-to-back victories in the G1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on Wednesday.  He made it 11 wins on end with an 11 length victory in the G1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Bullet Train will be his pacemaker in the Sussex and the stablemates will be against just two outside challengers – Farhh (Pivotal) and Gabrial (Dark Angel).  Bookmakers have installed Frankel a $1.05 favourite.
