Getreel (NZ) continued his rise through the grades with another resounding victory in a Class 4 Stakes at Kranji on Sunday. The Cliff Brown-trained gelding has now won three races in seven Singapore starts.
Getreel (4g Black Minnaloushe – Starzeel by Zabeel) defeated fellow NZ-bred gelding Not My Fault (No Excuse Needed) by four lengths. “There didn’t look to be much speed in the race and I told Olivier (Placais) to be positive from the wide draw,” Brown said. “Hopefully he can now measure up to Class 3 company.”
Getreel was bred by Joanne and Ross Mackie of Waharoa and Barry and Janeece Mulland of Matamata. He is a half-brother to the stakes performer Twoeezy (Keeper). Second dam Staring (Fiesta Star) was the 1991-92 New Zealand Filly of the Year.
His sire Black Minnaloushe (Storm Cat) was based at Windsor Park before transferring to Maine Chance Farm in South Africa.
