Hong Kong based owner Dr Gene Tsoi will be gunning for a feature double in NZ and Australia on Saturday.
Tsoi has high-profile mare King’s Rose engaged in the G1 Newmarket at Flemington just a few hours after his filly Classy Fashion runs in the Listed NZ Bloodstock Airfreight Stakes (1400m) at Wingatui.
It’s the second leg of the NZ Bloodstock’s Southern Filly of the Year Series and Classy Fashion is currently in third place on the ladder behind Kasumi (Shinko King) and Planet Rock (Fastnet Rock). The Jason Bridgman trained filly was placed in the first leg of the series in the Canterbury Belle Stakes at Riccarton last September.
Classy Fashion (3f Fusaichi Pegasus – Elegant Fashion by Danewin) won on debut at Timaru before jumping straight into black-type company at Riccarton.
Tsoi raced her dam Elegant Fashion to feature wins in Australia (G2 MVRC Oaks) and Hong Kong (G1 HKJC Derby). Her latest foals are a filly and colt by Street Cry.
Hardest for Classy Fashion to beat on Saturday will be Golan filly Cora Lynn (Golan) and stablemates Semper Plus (Howbaddouwantit) and Arietta (Falkirk). The winner of the Listed NZB Airfreight Stakes will receive seven points in the Southern Filly of the Year Series with second taking three points and third one point.
