Gainesway Farm transfers Orientate

Former Arrowfield Stud shuttler Orientate has been transferred out of Kentucky to stand at Northview Stallion Station in Maryland.

The 15-year-old sire has been based at Gainesway Farm for his entire stud career apart from two southern seasons in 2003 and 2004.

Orientate (Mt. Livermore – Dream Team by Cox’s Ridge) was USA Eclipse Sprinter in 2002 after victories in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint and G1 Forego Stakes.  From his first seven crops, there have been 431 winners – including 30 stakes winners – at a 78% strike-rate.

His domestic roll-call is headed by the Saratoga Group 1 winning mares Lady Joanne (2007 Alabama Stakes) and Intangaroo (2008 Ballerina Stakes).

Orientate is by a Blushing Groom line stallion out of a Turn-to line mare and offered Australian breeders a pedigree free of Northern Dancer and Mr. Prospector, however, he was shunned out here siring just 75 foals in two seasons.

Nevertheless, his Arrowfield-bred stock also won at a 78% strike-rate and include the black-type mares Beyonce’s Star (G3 Eagle Farm), Marveen (LR Flemington) and Bermaise (LR Ascot).
