Vinery sire All Too Hard made headlines for the first time at the 2011 Inglis Easter Sale and the wheel turns full circle next week when 37 of his first-crop yearlings parade at Newmarket.

A half-brother to world-champion mare Black Caviar, he cost $1,025,000 as a yearling after John Hawkes saw off some spirited opposition, including under-bidder Peter Moody, five years ago.

All Too Hard paid that back with over $2.28 million in prizemoney and he added an extra zero in residual value after winning the stallion-making G1 Caulfield Guineas.  “He’s right up there with the best I’ve ever trained,” Hawkes stated.  “He’s a serious horse and is in the same class as Lonhro.”

Hawkes was determined to buy an All Too Hard at the Gold Coast Magic Millions in January and he came away with a colt from Vinery-based mare Roman Treasure (USA) for $440,000.

All Too Hard topped the median for freshman sires at the Gold Coast and the cream of his first crop will rise to the top at the Inglis Easter Sale.  Among the most popular from Vinery will be the colts from Group 1 winners Allez Wonder (Lot 171) and Bollinger (Lot 205).

Vinery will begin parading its Easter yearlings at the Newmarket sales complex as from Wednesday morning.
