Frozen Rope’s stroke of luck at Wyong

Wyong erupted on Thursday when Frozen Rope scored a first-up victory in the Magic Millions Dear Demi Hcp (1350m).

The Gosford galloper is trained by Adam Duggan and has now won 6 of 13 starts since opening his account at Port Macquarie in June 2011.  He started at $12 yesterday but a group of golfing partners were all on board as jockey Josh Parr sent the gelding charging through a gap in the straight.

Frozen Rope is by Greta West Stud sire King Of Prussia and he was reared at the Victorian nursery before transferring to the NSW Central Coast.  “I mentioned he was available while playing a pro-am golf tournament with Grant Binns and a few other mates,” Duggan recalled amid raucous celebrations at Wyong.  “They decided to lease the horse by the time we got to the 19th hole.”

Frozen Rope (5g King Of Prussia – Timor Flyer by Azzaam) will now be set for a 1500m event at Warwick Farm in the New Year.

Parr was all smiles after kicking the gelding home.  “He was racing first-up since March and had to carry 61kg so it was a top win,” Parr said.  “The boys are all good mates of mine and they know how to party.

“This horse has plenty of ability and he’s got a nice, big frame.  He can push on and win in town now.”

King Of Prussia (Anabaa) has been a reliable winner-getter since retiring to Greta West where he stands for a $2,750 (inc gst) service fee.  He has sired 107 winners of 324 races at a57% strike-rate.
