Foster flags Sires’ Produce start for Princess

Oratorio filly Diamond Princess will be given another crack in stakes company after a gutsy victory in the Minearc Systems Plate (1200m) at Ascot.

Saturday’s win came just as week after an unplaced effort in the LR Supremacy Stakes at Ascot.  “She had a hard run behind Whispering Brook so we took her down the beach to freshen up,” trainer Simon Foster said.  “She was able to dictate in front today and fought back when Ryamar ranged up in the straight.

“She was doing her best work at the finish and I reckon 1400 metres will be right up her alley.  There’s a WA Guineas winner close up in her pedigree so she’s bred for a race like the Sires’ Produce Stakes.”

The G3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) will be run at Ascot on April 16.

Diamond Princess (2f Oratorio – Dane La Belle by Danetime) is the first foal to race from an Ascot winning half-sister to Moccasin Bend (G2 WA Guineas).  Her second-dam True Surrender (Poliuto) is a sister-in-blood to Surrender To Me (LR Raconteur Stakes).

She cost $16,000 at the 2015 Perth Magic Millions and won first-up at Bunbury on New Year’s Day before giving a great sight when fourth in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Pinjarra last month.

Mungrup Stud sire Oratorio is on track for his 6th WA 2YO title and he heads the current premiership with prizemoney of $239,025.
