First foal by Americain

The first foal by Swettenham Stud shuttler Americain (USA) has been born at Calumet Farm in Kentucky.

The bay filly is from Strike The Light (Smart Strike).  It’s the mare’s second foal following an Indygo Shiner (A P Indy) colt last year.  Second-dam Mexican Moonlight (El Prado) was a Listed winner of the Old South Hcp at Louisiana Down and she was also Group 3 placed at Keeneland.

Americain (Dynaformer) is back in Kentucky for his second northern season.  He served 155 mares during an initial Victorian book at Swettenham last year.

Calumet Farm owner Brad Kelley supported Americain in 2013 and will increase those numbers after buying 22 mares at last week’s Keeneland January Sale.  Among his purchases were Hard Life (Rock Hard Ten) for $150,000 and Personal Odyssey (Lemon Drop Kid) for $100,000.
