First winner for Decertare

Redoute’s Choice sire Decertare landed his first winner at Gosford on Thursday when Viscount Lad was successful in the On Point Locating Hcp (1000m).

Viscount Lad (3g Decertare – Viscondesa by Viscount) is trained locally by John McNair and he fought off a late challenge from Easy Too to score by a half-head.  It was his third run in as many weeks after finishing second on debut at Cessnock on July 7.

He is the first foal of Viscondesa who retired a maiden after five starts in 2009.  The mare has yearling filly and another filly foal by Decertare.

Her second-dam Hooch (Bohemian) was a successful breeder for McNair when he was based in Perth.  Her foals included Highpak (G1 Karrakatta Plate) and Duendee (G3 Champion Fillies Stakes).

Bruce and Janis Greenslade stand Decertare at Yallara Stud near Canyonleigh in the NSW Southern Highlands.

“Bruce educates a lot of the young ones for Edmund and Belinda Bateman and knew Decertare had untapped ability,” Janis said.  “But he bowed a tendon after winning at Newcastle and we were only too happy to stand him down here.

“He’s by Redoute’s Choice and is a lovely type.  He’s only had one other starter from his first crop and we were thrilled when Viscount Lad won on Thursday.”

Decertare stands for $1,500 service fee and the Greenslades can be contacted on 02 48789107 or
