First winner for Cangon Stud’s Recapitalize

Cangon Stud sire Recapitalize registered his first winner with Recap’s Choice at Coffs Harbour on Tuesday.

Recap’s Choice (3f Recapitalize – Desert Money by Desert Style) steered a wide course in the Heavy 10 conditions and, although headed on the home turn by runners closer to the inside rail, she stayed on strongly to win the Schweppes Maiden Hcp (1012m) by over a length.

Prepared in Newcastle by former Coffs trainer Ken Lantry, Recap’s Choice had been placed at Taree on debut last month.  Lantry also bred the filly from his former Northern Rivers winner Desert Money.

The mare has a yearling filly by Glenrae Thoroughbreds sire Dubai’s Choice (Redoute’s Choice.)  Glenrae is a half-hour’s drive from Dungog based Cangon Stud where owner Jaime Mackay stands Recapitalize alongside Nothin’ Leica A Dane and Sea Battle.

Cangon Stud comprises over 2000 acres of prime thoroughbred country ranging from undulating hills to the rich alluvial flats of the Williams River.

Recapitalize (Royal Academy) won 8 races topped by Flemington features in the G3 Gilgai Stakes, LR Creswick Stakes and LR Chubb Stakes.  His NZ bred dam Breeze (Dahar) is from the immediate family of Group 1 racehorse and sire Blackfriars.

Mackay stands Recapitalize for a $2,750 (inc gst) service fee.
