First winner by Town Of Dragon

Town Of Dragon joined the long list of Redoute’s Choice stallions to sire a winner at Geelong on Tuesday.

His mare Dragon Artist prevailed in a three-way photo-finish to the Rex Gorell Hcp (1000m).  She was resuming for locally-based part-owner and trainer Carolyn Knight after a fading fourth at Ararat in February.

Dragon Artist (4m Town Of Dragon – Gucciconi by Bianconi) jumped to the front for Jordan Grob and then took a sit before edging out Inferential (Not A Single Doubt) and Our Jovanna (Danerich).

Redoute’s Choice sired Town Of Dragon from NZ bred Group 2 winner Deputy Dancer (Deputy Governor).  He cost $180,000 at the 2004 Inglis Easter yearling sale and won twice at Werribee for Danny O’Brien before transferring to Hong Kong.

After failing to fire for Danny Shum, he returned home to stand at Sutket Farm on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Town Of Dragon received scant support from broodmare owners – just 18 of his foals have been registered with the Australian Stud Book.
