First winner by Tickets

Tickets broke the ice with his first winner at Newcastle on Saturday when Unsinkable got the cash for trainer Gary Nickson.

Unsinkable (2f Tickets – Orphrey by Orpen) won the Lake Macquarie Hospital Maiden (1200m) by a half-length after a debut fourth at Gosford last month.  She changed hands for $10,000 at the 2014 Inglis Classic Summer Sale and is from the family of stakes winner Flawed Logic.

Tickets (Redoute’s Choice) was bred by Peter and Wendy Moran from their million-dollar Success Express mare Staging.  She is also the dam of Group 1 winning stallions Excites (Danewin) and Duporth (Red Ransom).

A high class juvenile, Tickets started his career with John O’Shea and defeated Manhattan Rain and Wanted in the LR Canonbury Stakes on debut at Randwick.  He followed up with a strong win in the G2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill prompting O’Shea to declare he was the most exciting two year-old in the country.

Tickets finished a gallant second to Manhattan Rain in the G1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) and to Onemorenomore in the G1 AJC Champagne Stakes (1600m).

Under the care of Peter Moody, Tickets trained on at three to win the G2 STC Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) and he was also an unlucky fourth in the G1 VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington.

Tickets stands for an $8,800 (inc gst) fee at Widden Stud.
