She’s Positive became the first winner for Darley sire Sepoy with a brilliant display of speed in the Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic (1200m) at Morphettville on Monday.
The Tony Noonan trained youngster had been placed in Magic Millions Clockwise Classic and LR Cinderella Stakes and showed blistering gate speed to jump clear of her rivals in the $200,000 sales-related sprint. After straightening for home, she kicked strongly and never looked like relinquishing a substantial lead.
She’s Positive was purchased by owner Frank Carnovale for $180,000 at last year’s Gold Coast Magic Millions from Yarraman Park. Bred by Laurel Oak Bloodstock, She’s Positive is out of Group 3 winning Anabaa mare Be Positive whose only other foal is the stakes-placed Mr Optimistic (Domesday).
“She can be quite full-on and has white line fever when she steps on to the track,” jockey Jake Noonan said. “The stable have done a magnificent job to get her to this stage and make her controllable.”
Sepoy (Elusive Quality) was a Group 1 winner of the Blue Diamond, Golden Slipper, Manikato Stakes and Coolmore Stud Stakes. There have been 15 of his first-crop runners to date and, apart from She’s Positive, they include Group 3 placed filly Chipanda as well as metropolitan-placed gallopers Giroux and Regimental Force.
Sepoy has 25 lots catalogued for next month’s Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
