First winner by Pellizotti

Parwanvale Stud resident Pellizotti sired his first winner on Sunday and the result was never in doubt at Grafton.

His first-starter Pellium cartwheeled to a 7 length victory in the Grafton 2 Yamba Houseboat Maiden (1106m).  He started a short-priced favourite and the money was right on the mark for the gelding who is part-owned and trained by Ron Godbolt.

Pellium (2g Pellizotti – Polythene Pam by Distant Music) hails from a family that has produced several stakes winners for NSW breeder Fred Peisah.  His dam’s only other foal is a weanling colt by Eliza Park International stallion Instinction.

Bacchus Marsh studmaster Tony Morahan stands Pellizotti and there are several more of his first-crop waiting in the wings.  “I deliberately kept them back until they were late two year-olds,” Morahan said.  “There are another five in pre-training with David Brideoake and at Eliza Park.”

Pellizotti (Stratum) was purchased by Lee Freedman for $425,000 at the 2009 Inglis Easter yearling sale and he was black-type placed in the Maribyrnong Trial and Blue Diamond Preview before an injury derailed his autumn campaign.

Sent to Brisbane for the winter carnival, he score a brilliant victory in the LR Dalrello Plate (1200m) breaking the Doomben 2YO track record held by Shellscrape.

Brought back as a three year-old, Pellizotti finished fourth first-up at Caulfield, however, knee-related issues curtailed his career to just two more starts at the spring carnival.

“I’ve been happy to just cover my own mares over the last couple of years,” Morahan said.  “But I’m sure there will be outside bookings if there’s more winners like Pellium.”

Pellizotti’s service fee is priced on application and Morahan can be contacted for further information on 0407 568 793.
