First winner by Mettre En Jeu

Overtheriver (NZ) put his sire Mettre En Jeu on the board with a two length victory at Wanganui on Thursday.

The Stephen Crutchley trained colt is a first crop son of Mettre En Jeu and he let down strongly in the straight to win the Mickey’s Super Liquor Maiden (1200m).

Overtheriver (3c Mettre En Jeu – Quality Eyes by Danzero) was offered by Letham Thoroughbreds at the 2012 NZB Festival Sale but failed to make a $21,000 reserve.  He is from a daughter of G2 SAJC Angas Brut Stakes winner Close Your Eyes (Geiger Counter).

Mettre En Jeu (Montjeu) stands at Letham Thoroughbreds which is operated by Nigel and Adaire Auret.  He won the LR Triple Crown Cup at Ellerslie and also finished a half-length second to Aussie invader Redoute’s Dancer in the 2007 New Zealand Derby.

He stands for a $3,000 fee Letham Thoroughbreds which is situated to the east of Wanganui.
