First winner by Dubai’s Choice

Dubai’s Choice sired his first winner when Midnight Ride staged a $62 upset in the Duck Creek Maiden Plate (1000m) at Kembla Grange on Saturday.

Midnight Ride (3g Dubai’s Choice – Seesaw by Sea Swell) is only the second starter from his sire’s initial crop.  He started the outsider on debut but won running away from odds-on favourite Castigate (Street Cry).

The Gwenda Markwell trained gelding is a homebred for the Bitz family.  They also raced his dam Seesaw to 8 wins including city scores at Rosehill and Randwick.

Dubai’s Choice (Redoute’s Choice) was a $1.80 million graduate of the 2005 Inglis Easter yearling sale and was a juvenile winner on debut at Rosehill for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa and Arrowfield Stud.

The colt’s form tapered right off and, after finishing last at Morphettville in August 2009, he was retired to Glenrae Thoroughbreds at Lower Belford in NSW.   Owner Glen Beattie stands him for a $3,300 (inc gst) fee.
