Little Tiger Snake registered the first win for his NSW based sire Chat Up Line on Saturday. The locally trained gelding broke through in the McCarthy Bookmakers Hcp (1400m) at Tumut.
Little Tiger Snake (3g Chat Up Line – Cheree’s Gold by Golden Snake) is prepared by Kerry Weir and was knocking on the door after an unlucky second at his home track on Boxing Day.
Chat Up Line (Falbrav) is a younger half-brother to Swettenham Stud’s homebred sire Kaphero. He was also bred at the leading Victorian nursery but suffered an injury as a yearling and was retired without racing.
Barradine horseman Denis Todd is standing the seven year-old for two seasons in a deal with his Wagga based owner Brian Lawrence. “Chat Up Line is just covering my own mares and a few for a couple of mates,” Todd said on Monday. “I don’t really want any outside mares so I put a $10,000 fee on him!”
Chat Up Line replaced Montoya who died in November 2011. Montoya was a Rory’s Jester stallion and there are 7 yearlings in the first of his two crops bred at Barradine.
