First winner by Carrara

Riverside Thoroughbreds resident Carrara sired his first winner at Rockhampton on Thursday.

Allround Glory started a $1.35 favourite in the Mark Bunt Menswear Maiden QTIS 2YO Maiden (1100m) and he was never in danger while leading throughout for Mackay trainer Lyle Wright.

The winner is from the first-crop by Carrara (Elvstroem) out of Mossman mare Mossman Annie.  He’s a homebred for Gavin Milner and it was a well-deserved breakthrough following seconds in three previous starts at his home track.

Carrara was trained by Tony Vasil for a debut win at Seymour.  He followed up with a placing behind Black Caviar in the LR Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield before travelling north to claim the LR Phoenix Stakes at Doomben.

Returning home as a spring 3yo, he completed a hat-trick in the LR Mitchell McKenzie Stakes, LR Henry Bucks Stakes and G2 Bill Stutt Stakes prior to finishing runner-up to Starspangledbanner in the G1 Caulfield Guineas.

Carrara (Elvstroem) stands with studmaster Bruce Watts at Alton Downs, outside of Rockhampton, for a $3,850 (inc gst).  There have been 6 starters to date from his first crop which numbered 20 foals.

Riverside Thoroughbreds will offer 6 Carrara yearlings at the Capricornia Yearling Sales in Rockhampton on April 2.
