First winner by Akacheeta

Mossman stallion Akacheeta was represented by his first winner at Port Macquarie on Sunday.

Chalcedony (3g Akacheeta – Carefully by Dangerous) broke through at his fourth start since debuting on August 24.  He is a homebred for the Travis family and was a well-backed, short-priced favourite to win the Stowe Electrical Solutions Maiden (1506m).

The Matthew Robinson trained gelding is one of two named foals from Akacheeta’s first-crop.  The other is the Bindi Cheers trained gelding Akamin who was runner-up twice at Taree earlier this year.

Akacheeta covered just 23 mares in his first four seasons at stud.  Cheers last advertised him for an $1,100 (inc gst) service fee.

A two-time winner at the Gold Coast, Akacheeta was bred by Peter Moran – just like his sire Mossman – and is from a half-sister to Zariz who also earned a start at stud after winning the G2 Up And Coming Stakes and G2 San Domenico Stakes.
