First stakes winner by Moshe

Moshe headlined a winning weekend for Eliza Park International stallions when his first-stakes winner arrived in Adelaide.

MOSHKI took out the Listed Cinderella Stakes at Morphettville by near on five lengths on Saturday.  That makes three stakes-performers for Black Caviar’s full brother from only a handful of runners.

MAGNUS gelding Malaguerra smashed his opposition in the Listed Bob Hoysted (1000m) at Flemington.  Much has been made of the form surrounding this promising galloper last spring and he well and truly franked it on Australian Guineas day.  The Lee Freedman trained galloper is in for a massive prep!

Malaguerra is the 11th stakes winner for Magnus and he came close to another when The Alfonso was beaten a neck in the G3 Hong Kong Macau Trophy (1400m) at Sha Tin on Sunday.

LAZUMBA is bound for a Group 1 in Adelaide following another promising victory at Flemington.  She cost $165,000 from the EPI draft at the 2014 Melbourne Premier and trainer Steve Richards has the G1 South Australian Oaks on the agenda.  That assignment looks well within the grasp of Lazumba who was Group 2 placed behind Jameka in last year’s VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes.  Her dam Tantalised has a Bel Esprit filly on the ground.

DEFCON is an EPI graduate from the 2015 Melbourne Premier and his price-tag of $340,000 looked money well spent in the G3 Black Opal Stakes in Canberra on Sunday.  Despite missing the kick, he made a mess of them coming from last in a blistering display of speed.

The son of Choisir is yet another endorsement to “Buy EPI” at the yearling sales in advance of his tilt at the G1 Golden Slipper.  Defcon was bred in the Yarra Valley by Gleneagles Stud owner Kevan Wacey.
