First southern winner by Harbour Watch

Former Emirates Park shuttler Harbour Watch (Ire) has sired a winner with his first starter in Australia.

His flashy chestnut colt Harnova won the Romantic Dream Plate (1000m) at Tamworth for part-owner and trainer Neil Godbolt on Monday.

Ridden just off the lead for the majority of the contest, Harnova wore down Mr Grumpy over the final 100m to win by half a length.  “He’s still very green but class prevailed,” jockey Samantha Clenton said.  “He has a very high action and has got to learn to flatten out.  When he does he will be a nice horse.”

Harbour Watch (Acclamation) won the G2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood and stood at Emirates Park’s Murrurundi headquarters in 2013 and 2014.  Those two books yielded 100 foals at a $9,900 (inc gst) fee.

Harnova was bred by Emirates Park from Carnova (Carnegie) who is a half-sister to G2 MVRC Stock Stakes winner Avienus.
