Melbourne Cup winner Shocking has his first foals on the ground in New Zealand.
Mae Ling (Keeper) foaled a bay filly at Wentwood Grange on Tuesday and Fairfield Flame (Oasis Dream) followed up with another bay filly at Rich Hill Stud on Thursday.
“Both fillies exhibit their sire’s quality, strength and physical presence,” Rich Hill Stud’s John Thompson said. “We have a lot of them to look forward to over the next few months.”
Another early arrival is a Shocking – Conduce colt at Rich Hill. His dam is a Pentire three-quarter sister to Pentastic from the family of Tuesday Joy and Sunday Joy.
Shocking (Street Cry) was trained by Mark Kavanagh and won from 1300m to 3200m highlighted by victories in the Australian and Melbourne Cups.
He covered 153 mares in his first year at Rich Hill and his 2012 service fee has been held at $12,000.
