A huge sigh of relief echoed around Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket over the weekend after Frankel had his first mare scanned in foal.
Coolmore Stud stakes winner Chrysanthemum (Danehill Dancer) produced a PPT on Sunday to the Juddmonte super-star. She scored G3 victories in the C L Weld Park Stakes and Park Express Stakes in Ireland.
Chrysanthemum is among a stellar book of around 130 mares who have been, or will be, covered by Frankel in his first season at stud. The first mare Frankel covered was six-time G1 winner Midday.
Bated Breath (Dansili) who retired to Banstead Manor Stud alongside Frankel this year, has also had his first mare – Pretty Primo (Kyllachy) – scanned in foal. “Both horses are proving to be very professional,” Juddmonte general manager Philip Mitchell said. “It’s always good to get their first mare tested in foal.”
