Vinery shuttler Myboycharlie was represented by his first northern-hemisphere winner when Salai scored on debut in France on Thursday.
Salai (2c Myboycharlie – Mabadi by Sahm) prevailed by three-quarters of a length in the Prix De Lannemezan (1100m) at Tarbes which is based at the foot of the Pyrenees. Leading trainer Jean-Claude Rouget bought him for 55,000 euros at the 2012 Arqana October Yearling Sale.
Australian owned SF Bloodstock bred the winner from Mabadi (USA), a three year-old winner at Chester in July 2006 before moving to California where she was G2 placed at Santa Anita.
Myboycharlie (Danetime) was a G1 winner of the 2007 Prix Morny and he began shuttling to Vinery Stud from the English National Stud. He later changed bases in the northern hemisphere to Haras du Mezeray in Normandy.
The first Myboycharlie two year-olds are also up and running in Australian & NZ with 4 winners from 13 starters to date. Vinery will stand him for a fifth southern season this year at a $16,500 (inc gst) service fee.
