First Destiny foals are Naturals

Natural Destiny has been given every chance to succeed at stud and now he’s putting the stamp of approval on his first foals.

Natural Destiny has been very popular with broodmare owners, covering 94 mares in 2008 and another 78 last year.  Of the Queensland based stallions who retired to stud in 2008, only Court Command has served more mares!  And he’s a fertile young gun with a 94% strike-rate.

Willowbend Stud’s David and Ben Lucas are fielding glowing reports from breeders who supported the horse in 2008.  “We couldn’t be happier with Natural Destiny’s first foals,” David Lucas said while taking time out from branding the youngsters last week.  “They really are nice types and that’s the feedback we’re getting from everyone.

The filly out of Mayfly (Flying Tycoon) is one of the standouts among Natural Destiny’s first foals.  Mayfly won at Ipswich and Sunshine Coast for Lawrie and Judith Biddle and her Natural Destiny filly is a September foal.

The Biddle family is based at Jimboomba which is a half hour’s drive north of Willowbend.  Besides Mayfly, they also sent Senda Diva (Send A Sign) to Natural Destiny in 2008.

“We liked Natural Destiny right from the start,” Judith Biddle explained.  “He was a brilliant racehorse and he let down into a magnificent stallion by the time we saw him again at the Willowbend open day last year.

“The filly from Mayfly is a ripper and so is the colt out of our other mare Senda Diva.  We decided to breed both of them back to ‘Destiny’ last year.”

Natural Destiny is by Lee Freedman’s champion G1 galloper Naturalism and his dam Force Of Destiny is a half sister to Ossie Cossie who won 19 races up to 1200m including the AJC Lightning Stakes.  Force Of Destiny is by Archregent who is also the damsire of champion sprinter Takeover Target.

David Lucas believes Natural Destiny will be a real asset to the breeding industry.  “He had blistering speed and Queenslanders love speed.  And, at a $4,400 fee, he is among the best value stallions in the State!”
