First-crop double for Myboycharlie

Myboycharlie is mobilising his first crop of two year-olds and they responded with an international double on Saturday.

The Vinery shuttler opened Randwick’s meeting with impressive winner Dowdstown Charlie and then kick-started the Turffontein card with promising filly Sprinting Queen.

Sprinting Queen (2f Myboycharlie – Conquistar by Danasinga) won the Soccer 10 Juvenile Plate over 1450m from Enchanted Silk (Kahal) and Belle Coco (Jet Master) third time out.  The Geoff Woodruff trained filly had been unplaced at her first two starts at Vaal.

The Myboycharlie filly was purchased by outspoken Johannesburg attorney Michael de Broglio for $40,000 at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale.  She was exported to South Africa a month after changing hands at Oaklands Junction.

Her dam Conquistar was a G2 winner of the Travis Stakes and Matamata Breeders’ Stakes in New Zealand.

Myboycharlie (Danetime) has sired 7 first crop winners from Vinery’s Scone headquarters – 5 in Australia plus Sprinting Queen and his NZ stakes placed winner Charlestown.

French based colt Salai became his first northern hemisphere winner when claiming the Prix De Lannemezan (1100m) at Tarbes on May 9.
