First Aussie foal by Congrats

The first Australian-born foal by Vinery Stud’s top gun sire Congrats has arrived at Middlebrook Valley Stud at Scone.

The colt is the first foal of Sachariste (USA) who is a three-quarter sister to Hussonet (USA).  “He’s a lovely colt and was up on his feet soon after foaling,” Middlebrook manager Verna Metcalfe said.  “We’re delighted with him.”

Congrats returns to Vinery Stud this spring at a fee of $22,000 and his book is already full.  “His first Kentucky crop has produced 19 stakes horses from 91 runners so let’s hope he does similar things with his initial crop here,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.  “I wish we could take a bigger book to him!”

Congrats (A.P Indy) was a multiple stakes-winner on the track before going on to a swift and successful career in the breeding barn.  His debut crop included four USA G1 performers including Champion filly Turbulent Descent.
