Snitzel filly On Yer Feet provided the CatWalk Trust with a winning donation at Hastings on Saturday.
Half of the racing and breeding earnings of On Yer Feet have been donated to the CatWalk Trust which is dedicated to raising funds to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.
And there’s more where that came from. Trainer Lisa Latta indicated On Yer Feet will now be set for the G1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes at her home track on March 31.
On Yer Feet (2f Snitzel – Lady Firebird by Stravinsky) had been placed at Woodville in January before scoring a convincing victory in the Plumbquick Juvenile Hcp (1200m) on Saturday. Owner Ian MacDonald purchased her from Cambridge Stud for $60,000 at the 2011 NZB Karaka yearling sale.
MacDonald is based at Ramlegh Park and he approached CatWalk Trust founder Catriona Williams with the offer to donate 50% of the filly’s prizemoney.
Williams, formerly one of New Zealand’s leading equestrian riders, is confined to a wheelchair and so is MacDonald. “Ian wanted to purchase a yearling for the Karaka Million,” Williams explained. “She didn’t get to the big race at Ellerslie but it was still a dream result at Hastings.”
On Yer Feet (NZ) is from a three-quarter sister to the dam of Melbourne based Mosheen (Fastnet Rock). She won the G1 Victorian Oaks in the spring and was just as impressive winning the G1 Australian Guineas on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Snitzel’s Mornington based colt Pronto Pronto has been nominated for the G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Flemington this Saturday, March 10. Snitzel stands alongside his own sire Redoute’s Choice for a $27,500 fee at Arrowfield Stud.
